Are you tearing your hair out trying to write your life story? Have dozens of your memoir writes gone to die in a filing cabinet? As you write do your stories run away like wild animals, untamed and unframed? Or perhaps the thought of putting the words down on paper is just too scary? Memoir author, instructor/coach Sharon Pearce-McLeay MA, CJF designed this 12-week online course to settle your authorial nerves, help resurrect neglected files, tame wild stories and offer an easy-to-use template to complete your memoir. As you learn about memoir’s characteristics—writing in your own voice—theme—character development—how to use setting and include the wider world—research—structure—showing vs telling—and writing the difficult—you will apply each lesson to one* major life story. You will also learn journal writing techniques, prompts to help you write other stories, and how to use charting and a story board to explore plot and structure. Each week, with the benefit of Sharon’s own experience ghostwriting 4 memoirs and feedback from fellow course participants, your story will grow, refine and mature to the point where you may wish to submit it to contests or for publication. Then you can carry on writing the rest of your book following a template designed by you. Interested? There is a survey taking place now to determine dates and times. Email Sharon at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to be part of the survey. Registration details to come.
